JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has issued an investigative subpoena to KIS Consulting, LLC, targeting the company’s property inspection services, consumer referral practices and door-to-door sales tactics.
The investigation centers on how KIS Consulting advertises inspection services, refers Florida homeowners to attorneys and engineers for construction and design defect claims, and collects fees for those referrals.

According to the firm’s website, KIS Consulting offers free inspections to examine a home’s stucco exterior for signs of cracking or buckling in the foundation.
If any defects are found, then the firm would connect the homeowner with a “network of professionals that are experienced in resolving” the issues.
“Florida homeowners deserve transparent and fair treatment when addressing potential defects in their homes — not practices that drive up the cost of homeownership,” Uthmeier said. “My office is investigating these inspection and referral operations to ensure they truly serve the interests of the families they claim to help,” he added.
The subpoena requires KIS Consulting to produce documents dating back to Aug. 20, 2022, with a compliance deadline of Sept. 21, 2026. Requested records include consumer advertisements, attorney referral forms, engineering referral communications, repair estimates and invoices, internal training manuals, employee and contractor identification records, and any complaint or investigation files related to the company’s services.
The action is part of Uthmeier’s broader effort to enforce Florida’s consumer protection laws and shield homeowners from what the office describes as unfair or deceptive trade practices.
When we reached out to KIS Consulting, Chad Dutler, CEO and President of KIS Consulting, said it was “willing to comply with the subpoena.”
