Witnesses told police that Guy appeared to be “highly intoxicated.”
Staff of Wacko’s said they escorted Guy back inside the club after the incident and told the police that Guy offered to hand over his car keys and phone to them.
The driver of the truck told police he tried to exchange information with Guy, but he refused to provide it and tried to offer him $500 to settle the damages.
An officer who interviewed Guy said he had red, glassy, and watery eyes and slurred speech, and appeared to be confused when asked questions. Guy told police he could not remember if he was driving.
Guy then did field sobriety exercises and almost fell, the report said, but refused breath tests at the Duval County Jail.
He was booked on charges of driving under the influence and property damage and later released on $3,000 bond, jail records showed.
JSO noted there was a dent on the rear of the Mercedes and minor damage to the front bumper of the Ford F-150.
According to the Brunswick News, Guy serves as the president of the Georgia Council of Superior Court Judges. He began his term in that role on May 1.
Guy was elected to the bench in 2016 and has served as a judge in the Brunswick Judicial Circuit, which includes Glynn, Camden, Wayne, Appling and Jeff Davis counties, since 2017.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that Guy has already notified the Judicial Qualifications Commission of the incident.
