Teenage boy killed in drive-by shooting on Jacksonville’s Eastside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A teenage boy was killed in a drive-by shooting early Sunday morning on East19th Street, near Henry L. Brown Kooker Park.

The shooting occurred at 2 a.m. when a silver sedan pulled up and someone started shooting at a group of people, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

One boy was killed and a teenage girl was injured. She is expected to be OK.

Neighbors who heard about seven shots early in the morning say they’re scared that someone else will be killed.

One neighbor said shootings don’t happen much in her neighborhood and she’s lived there for years.

She says something has to be done.

“I just can’t believe what’s going on around here. Someone needs to do something, say something to get to the bottom of what’s going on because I hate to live in fear,” the neighbor told News4Jax.

Police are now investigating and looking for the car. Anyone with information that could help is asked to call JSO at 904-614-3201 or CrimeStoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
