JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Many VyStar Credit Union customers reported successful attempts at logging into the VyStar mobile app Thursday night and Friday morning after issues arose more than a month ago from the rollout of its new online banking platform.

However, after some members reported they could not successfully log in to the mobile app on their Android phones, VyStar released a statement on Saturday stating that the mobile app is fully functional for both iPhone and Android users.

“VyStar Credit Union has re-launched its mobile app, which is designed for phones. Members may now download the updated mobile app from the App Store and Google Play Store and log in using their phone. To ensure that members have the latest version, they need to remove the old app (white icon) and either download or update the new VyStar app (blue icon) from the App Store. To learn more about our new platform and its current capabilities, members can view our Online & Mobile Banking how-to videos or review frequently asked questions by visiting the Online & Mobile Banking FAQ page.”

If you bank with VyStar and want to attempt to log in to the app, follow these steps:

  • Delete the current app from your mobile device (including the white and blue icon) and redownload it from your app store
  • Fill out the username and password section and press login

It is also suggested that Andriod users clear the cache before they log in to the updated app.

Here’s how to clear the cache on a Samsung phone (instructions vary for different Android models):

  1. Touch and hold the VyStar mobile app icon. A new menu window will appear with options to Select, Add to Home or Uninstall. At the top right-hand of this box is an information icon (an “i” in a circle).
  2. Tap the information icon (an “i” in a circle).
  3. Scroll down to “Storage
  4. Tap “Storage
  5. Tap “Clear data” at bottom left.
  6. Tap “Clear cache” at bottom right.

VyStar informed customers the app would be down for a few days around May 13. On June 24, the credit union said its new app was good to download.

During the more than 30-day outage, some frustrated customers opted to leave the credit union and take their business elsewhere.

The app may prompt you to do a two-factor authentication before you log in. What this does is protect your account from hackers. You will be sent a one-time passcode to your phone or email when you choose an option. Type in that code and log in.

A News4JAX employee was successful in logging on to the app -- on her iPhone XR -- Friday morning after sending the one-time passcode to her email. She was able to see her accounts, transfers, payments and more.

Other members reported issues, telling News4JAX they couldn’t log in.

“Nope, still not working,” one News4JAX Insider said. “App force closes shortly after the splash screen. Doesn’t come close to loading. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling from the Play Store.”
