Bridge of Lions in St. Augustine partially shuts down as Ian hits

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Bridge of Lions in downtown St. Augustine was partially shut down Thursday afternoon as the coastal city began to see the effects of Tropical Storm Ian.

Around 9:30 a.m., eastbound lanes of the bridge were shut down but westbound lanes off Anastasia Island were still open.

Sea water breached the seawall near the base of the bridge Thursday morning and strong winds continued to hit the area as St. Johns County started to see the worst of Ian.
