According to troopers, a pickup truck was traveling west on C.R. 240 and approaching Southwest Little Road when the driver failed to negotiate a left curve in the road, and that’s when the truck collided with the front of a sport utility vehicle stopped at the stop sign on Southwest Little Road at C.R. 240.

Troopers said the pickup continued west on Southwest Little Road before coming to a stop in the southern tree line against a stand of trees.

The SUV was pushed backward onto Southwest Little Road and onto the northern grassy ditch, troopers said.

The sole passenger of the SUV — a 66-year-old Lake City woman — died at the scene, according to FHP.

According to troopers, the driver of the SUV — a 70-year-old Lake City man — suffered serious injuries, and the driver of the pickup — a 39-year-old Lake City man — and the sole passenger of the pickup — a 44-year-old Lake City man — had minor injuries.

A news release from FHP shows neither occupant of the pickup was wearing a seat belt.

The Highway Patrol said the investigation is active and ongoing at this time.
