JSO: Man dies after crash involving car, pick-up truck on Commonwealth Avenue

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was killed in a crash Monday evening on Jacksonville’s Westside, police said.

A black car was headed west on Commonwealth Avenue around 6:45 p.m., the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. A blue pick-up truck was driving south on Jones Road when the car pulled out in front of the truck, resulting in the collision, the sheriff’s office said.

The pick-up truck driver suffered minor injuries and remained on the scene to talk with police. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Police said there were no signs of impairment. Investigators said the driver of the car had a stop sign and should have yielded to the truck, but the crash is still under investigation.

This marks the 89th traffic fatality in Duval County.
