17-year-old dies after crashing into ditch in Flagler County

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A 17-year-old boy died after crashing into a ditch just after midnight in Flagler County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to FHP, the 17-year-old driver of an SUV was driving eastbound on Quick Street when he traveled into the westbound lane toward a ditch with water. He then crashed into the ditch and overturned.

The SUV stopped on its roof facing eastbound, FHP said.

According to the FHP report, there were five passengers: a 16-year-old boy from Palm Coast, a 19-year-old woman from Palm Coast, an 18-year-old man from Satsuma, a 16-year-old girl from Palm Coast and a 16-year-old boy from Palm Coast.

The 16-year-old boy from Palm Coast suffered minor injuries. All the other passengers were uninjured, according to the report.

FHP indicated the 17-year-old driver from Palm Coast was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The passengers were not wearing seatbelts either, the report states.
