JAXPORT employees collect 720 pounds of trash to celebrate Earth Day

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) employees collected 720 pounds of trash along a two-mile stretch of Heckscher Drive in North Jacksonville Friday to celebrate Earth Day.

Employees cleaned the portion between the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal and the port’s Blount Island Marine Terminal.

According to JAXPORT officials, the clean-up has been an annual Earth Day tradition since they acquired this section of the road in 2022 through the Florida Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway program.

In total, employees collected dozens of bags of trash, two car bumpers, a tractor-trailer seat, a cooler lid, a bucket, and other items, officials said.
