JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Democratic State Rep. Angie Nixon nailed a win Tuesday night in District 13 in Florida’s primary election.
Nixon beat out former Jacksonville City Councilwoman Brenda Priestly Jackson with over 10,400 votes for the seat (81%). Priestly Jackson received just over 2,400 (19%).
Just before the election, Nixon was involved in political controversy after former U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown filed a complaint for injunctive relief against Nixon, accusing her of disseminating fraudulent “quick pick” voter guides in Duval County.
Nixon denied that she or her campaign had any involvement in the distribution of the “fraudulent” quick-pick guides.
Brown and Nixon concluded with an agreement to stop the distribution of the quick-pick guides.
