Man dead after striking utility pole in Columbia County

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 20-year-old man is dead after striking a utility pole in Columbia County on Saturday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Officials said at 11:23 a.m., an SUV was traveling west on the entrance ramp to Interstate 10 near mile marker 303.
Investigators said that as the SUV was traveling on the entrance ramp, it began to rotate and left the roadway on the north unpaved shoulder of I-10.
FHP said the SUV went through the unpaved shoulder before striking a utility pole.
Officials said the driver was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
