Fay fades to Tropical Depression, as Tropical Storm Gonzalo lives another day

Gonzalo is moving toward the north near 9 mph (15 km/h). A motion between north and north-northwest is expected to continue through the weekend, with a deceleration and a turn to the west-northwest expected early next week.

On the forecast track, the center will continue to move away from northeastern portions of the Cabo Verde Islands today.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Weakening is anticipated, and Gonzalo could become a remnant low or dissipate within the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Fay is moving toward the west-southwest near 3 mph (6 km/h). A turn to the south-southwest is expected to occur, followed by an increase in forward speed.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast over the next several days.
