Driver killed in early morning crash on Brentwood Avenue

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man is dead following a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Jacksonville’s Brentwood neighborhood.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred just after 4:15 a.m. in the 4500 block of Brentwood Avenue near Alder Street.

Investigators say a man in his mid-30s was driving southbound in a newer Acura when the vehicle veered across the northbound lanes and struck a concrete utility pole.

The driver, who was the sole occupant, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue.

This marks the 67th traffic fatality in Duval County so far this year.
