Area deemed safe after construction teams find unexploded ordnance on NAS Jacksonville flight line

NAS JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Construction teams found an unexploded ordnance on NAS Jacksonville’s flight line on Wednesday morning. The area and several buildings were evacuated, but it is now deemed safe.

Officials said there was no explosion, but the area was still cleared, and nearby buildings were evacuated as a precautionary measure. The area has now been deemed safe.

A Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team from Naval Station Mayport is on site and evaluating the situation.
