JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Transportation Authority said it is reopening the St. Johns River Ferry service on Friday.
Officials said the ferry was closed on May 4 after the ferry made contact with the boarding ramp while departing from Mayport Landing.

JTA said they were able to complete most of the Coast Guard-required maintenance that was scheduled to happen next year.
JTA said this is expected to greatly reduce the time needed for scheduled maintenance.
Officials said they’re working with HMS Ferries to investigate the incident and will share the findings with the public to ensure transparency and accountability.
