Missing 69-year-old man found safe after leaving living facility on Jacksonville’s Westside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was searching for a 69-year-old man who they say left his independent living facility on Jacksonville’s Westside on Tuesday.

JSO announced that the man was found safe on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the man was seen later in the day, around 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday near McDuff Avenue and Beaver Street and wasn’t seen since.

“This kind of case where there’s cognitive issues that come into play. It’s the fear for their safety that they can wander into traffic or wander in the woods,” Crime and Safety Analyst Tom Hackney said.
