JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Streeter Acclaimed Kitchen is back in business less than three months after an apparent electrical fire forced the Jacksonville restaurant to close.
The restaurant relaunched Saturday with a food truck at Trout River Food Truck Park, where customers lined up hours before the grand opening to support the business and try its Southern soul food.

The fire caused extensive damage to the restaurant’s brick-and-mortar location, leaving owner Johnathan Streeter and his team looking for ways to rebuild. Community members contributed through a GoFundMe fundraiser and other acts of support, helping the restaurant reopen sooner than expected.
“I didn’t expect me to get open back this fast,” Streeter said. “But, you know, we got — anything is possible. I had a great team behind me, my wife, just the whole city been waiting on us to get back open, and I had to make it happen. So now we’re here.”
Customers said they were eager to see whether the food truck lived up to the restaurant’s reputation.
“I want to see whether or not it lives up to its hype,” said customer Robert Kimbrough. “I’ve heard great things. I even have a family member that works for them. And they bring food home all the time back when they had the brick and mortar. But now I want to experience the food truck.”
Jasmine Bond said she was looking forward to trying the crab-stuffed salmon and salmon egg rolls — dishes she described as unique.
The restaurant’s previous location was damaged by a fire in July. Front manager Riva Kimbrough previously said the fire damaged much of the back room, where the business stored takeout containers, cleaning supplies and other equipment.
The GoFundMe fundraiser was created to help with payroll and relocation costs. Streeter Acclaimed Kitchen opened in February 2025 and quickly built a following for its Southern soul food.
The food truck was scheduled to remain at Trout River Food Truck Park until 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and return on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Availability and future operating hours may vary.
