Firefighters contain 15-acre brush fire on County Road 13A North in St. Augustine

Officials say no damage to structures or injuries have been reported

Firefighters battle brush fire in St. Augustine (St. Johns County Fire Rescue)

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Firefighters were working to contain a brush fire on County Road 13A North near Ashton Oaks Drive. According to St. Johns County Fire Rescue, crews arrived to find a controlled burn that had escaped and spread into nearby woods.

The Florida Forest Service was on the scene, helping establish containment lines to control the fire.

As of 4:30 p.m., the fire was contained and estimated to be around 15 acres. No damage to structures or injuries have been reported.

Firefighters said smoke will remain in the area overnight and they’re asking drivers to use caution in the area.

Residents in the area are urged to stay alert due to dry fire weather conditions and report any new spot fires immediately.
