Deputies were sent to the home and found a man later identified as Loyd Alan Kerr, 50, dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
Deputies knew a woman lived in the home, so they searched for her and found Rachael Renee Kerr, 43, unresponsive in the yard with an apparent gunshot wound to the neck.
The Sheriff’s Office said deputies and medical personnel began life-saving measures, but she died shortly after paramedics arrived.
Investigators said the double shooting appears to be related to “an ongoing domestic violence case between an estranged husband and wife.”
The Sheriff’s Office said minor children were in the home at the time of the shooting but were not hurt. They are now in the care of the Department of Children and Families pending placement with family members.
