Heavy law enforcement presence in St. Johns County neighborhood cleared after ‘several hours of communication’

A heavy law enforcement presence could be seen in a St. Johns County neighborhood Tuesday night.

The Sheriff’s Office says the call involved a person deputies described as mentally unstable at a home on Jennie Lake Court.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, and out of an abundance of caution, SWAT and the Crisis Negotiation Team were also called in.

Officials say the incident is active but isolated. Residents and others are urged to stay away from the area.

Around 10:53 p.m., SJSO said it had verified that the subjects involved in this incident were safe following “several hours of communication.”

“There is no threat to the community. SJSO has concluded its response and is clearing the neighborhood. The subject has been provided the resources needed,” the agency said.
