INTERLACHEN, Fla. – Days after having to close two schools in Interlachen because smoke from a wildfire had reduced visibility to “essentially zero,” the Putnam County School District announced another closure on Friday.

Because of poor visibility, the following roads are closed in the Interlachen area:

  • CR 315 South from SR 20 to CR 310
  • Keuka Road from SR 20 to SR 21
  • Strickland Road

The road closures are affecting travel for families and buses in the area, so Robert H. Jenkins Elementary School will be closed on Friday.

Ochwilla Elementary School will have limited bus service. Interlachen Jr.-Sr. High School will be open on Friday.

The district said that buses will not travel on the affected or closed roads listed above.

Officials urged parents not to leave students at any bus stops unattended, as buses might not be able to access all areas.

“Safety remains our top priority. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work closely with local authorities and continue to monitor road and visibility conditions. Please continue to watch for updates,” the district wrote.
