Woman, 30, dies after crashing into excavator on I-10 near Lane Avenue: FHP

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol said a 30-year-old woman died on Monday after she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into an excavator on I-10 near Lane Avenue.

FHP said the woman was driving west on I-10 and was attempting to merge into the right lane. Upon losing control of the vehicle, she veered left toward the roadway’s shoulder before striking an excavator that was parked due to construction in the area.

The woman died at the scene, FHP said.

Emergency crews were on the scene of the deadly crash on I-10 West near Lane Avenue, which required all westbound lanes to be blocked between Lane and Cassat avenues for a significant period of time.

The backups stretched all the way to Roosevelt Blvd.
