Local mechanic shares step to help drivers cut down on gas consumption

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – We have all been feeling it: Gas Prices have gone up sharply in recent weeks.

Right now, according to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Florida is $4.10. For perspective, a month ago, it was $3.72, that’s nearly a 50-cent jump per gallon.

In Georgia, the average price has increased 19 cents in the past month. It now sits at $3.69 per gallon.

Gas is much cheaper in the Peach State because the governor suspended the gas tax to try to offset the skyrocketing prices caused by the war in Iran which has led the country to virtually shut down the Strait of Hormuz, where 20 percent of the world’s oil tankers travels through it.

News4JAX wants to help you get the most out of the gas in your tank. Mechanic Aaron Nelson from Aaron’s Car Care joins us now to walk us through some simple steps we can all take to cut down on how much gas we consume in our cars to help save us some money.
