What travelers should know before booking
Not all tickets are created equal. Delta Main Basic fares — the lowest-cost option — come with notable restrictions. Those tickets are non-refundable, do not include a seat assignment until after check-in, and are not eligible to earn SkyMiles or count toward Medallion Status.
Checked baggage fees also vary depending on destination and fare class. For the St. Thomas route, the first checked bag runs $45 and the second is $55. For the Rio de Janeiro route, Main Basic travelers can expect to pay $70 for the first checked bag and $100 for the second.
