ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – St. Johns County has completed roadway improvements along County Road 210 from Interstate 95 to U.S. 1, marking a significant milestone in improving mobility and connectivity for residents, businesses and schools in north St. Johns County.

The county celebrated the project’s completion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week.

“This project is a direct response to what our residents have been asking for,” said Commissioner Clay Murphy, chair of the Board of County Commissioners. “Widening CR 210 from I-95 to U.S. 1 adds capacity, improves traffic flow, and makes this corridor work better for the families, businesses, and schools that depend on it.”

The improvements included widening approximately 0.7 miles of CR-210 from two lanes to six lanes between Trinity Way and Beachwalk Boulevard. The project also added sidewalks and curbing on both sides of the roadway, drainage enhancements and a new traffic signal at the intersection of CR-210 and Badger Park Drive/Cumberland Park Drive. The upgrades are designed to improve traffic flow and provide more reliable travel times, particularly during peak morning and afternoon hours.

The project directly responds to community feedback regarding congestion along the corridor, reflecting the county’s commitment to practical, long-term transportation improvements. During construction, the county implemented strategies to help reduce congestion, including opening an additional eastbound lane at the start of the project that remained open throughout construction to help maintain traffic flow.

CRs-210 is among the first major projects completed through the county’s Infrastructure Delivery Team, a model formed in 2023 to enhance coordination across departments and streamline project delivery. The unified approach is designed to improve efficiency and outcomes across the county’s growing infrastructure needs.

“County Road 210 is one of the first projects delivered through the county’s Infrastructure Delivery Team, which we formed in 2023,” said Joy Andrews, St. Johns County administrator. “It represents a new way of delivering infrastructure projects in a more collaborative and coordinated way. Today is a demonstration of how this model works.”

The project was funded through a combination of impact fees, the Transportation Trust Fund and developer contributions, with a fiscal year 2025 budget of approximately $12.6 million and a fiscal year 2026 budget of approximately $6.1 million.
