Suspect arrested in 2023 shooting deaths of two St. Augustine men

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a suspect in the 2023 shooting deaths of two St. Augustine men.
Derrick Walden, 44, has been transferred from federal custody to the St. Johns County Jail, where he faces two counts of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with the deaths of Cody Bennett, 21, and Tre’ Lyons, 22. The two men were found shot to death inside a vehicle in November 2023.

Walden had been serving time in federal custody prior to his transfer to St. Johns County.
