According to the arrest report obtained by News4JAX, Lopez, a tow truck driver, was at the Sanctuary Walk apartment complex on East 21st Street on May 26 to repossess Jones’ Jeep Compass.

According to the report, around 10 p.m., Lopez and another person who accompanied him had attached the tow lift when Jones approached them and demanded that they “put her car down.”

When Lopez did not stop the repossession process, the report said, Jones got inside the vehicle with the keys and started the engine.

Then, Lopez entered the passenger side to turn it off and removed the car keys, according to the report. The report said Jones, then, went into Lopez’s tow truck to remove the keys from the ignition, which caused Jones and Lopez to get into a scuffle over the keys.

A bystander intervened and removed the keys from Jones, the report said.

How the shooting took place is still unclear, and police have not identified a shooter.

Jones was charged with burglary.
