LAKE CITY, Fla. – The Lake City Police Department is investigating a homicide after officers found a man who had been shot on Tuesday morning on NW Albright Place, the department said.
Officers responded at about 10:52 a.m. to a report of a person who had been shot and located an adult man suffering apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said Willie Thomas, 25, was arrested in connection with the shooting. The sheriff’s office said it tracked him down and used a K-9 to apprehend him after he refused to comply with their commands.
LCPD detectives took over the investigation. Detectives from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, crime-scene personnel with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and representatives from the Office of the State Attorney for the Third Judicial Circuit also responded to assist, police said.
The scene remains active while investigators process evidence and conduct interviews. Residents should expect a continued law enforcement presence in the area, the department said.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
