72-year-old man charged with murder after deadly stabbing in Atlantic Beach

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested a 72-year-old man in connection with a fatal stabbing in Atlantic Beach.

Stephen Perez-Guerra was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with second-degree murder in the death of 49-year-old Mickey Jo Guile.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, officers with the Atlantic Beach Police Department responded just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, to Rose Avenue near Mayport Road. There, they found Guile lying in a back bedroom. He was rushed to a hospital, where he later died.

JSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene Unit detectives launched an investigation in cooperation with Atlantic Beach Police Department and the State Attorney’s Office. Through that investigation, detectives say they identified Perez-Guerra as the suspect.

Perez-Guerra is currently being held at the Duval County jail.
