3-year-old, woman dead after Jeep veers off I-295, erupts in flames

Two people are dead following a fiery crash on Jacksonville’s northbound Interstate 295 late Thursday night.
The crash happened at 10:35 p.m. near mile marker 37, according to Florida Highway Patrol. A black Jeep left the road and struck a tree before bursting into flames.

The driver, a 42-year-old woman and a passenger, a 3-year-old boy were pronounced dead at the scene.
It remains unclear what caused the Jeep to veer off the road.
