JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The family of Billy “Bigga Rankin” Plummer has announced plans for a celebration of life for the DJ and promoter known as a godfather of Southern hip-hop.
Plummer, who helped promote and amplify the careers of Southern rappers including Plies, Rick Ross, T.I., Jeezy, Yo Gotti, B.o.B. and Gucci Mane, and opened the Cool Runnings nightclub in Jacksonville in 1990, died Monday, according to his family.

A viewing for Plummer will be held Friday, July 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Paxon Revival Center Church, located at 5461 Commonwealth Ave. A Celebration of Life will be held the following day, Saturday, August 1, at 11 a.m.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Bigga Rankin Memorial Fund. Information about the fund, along with livestreaming information for the celebration of life, can be found at biggarankin.org.
