JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Yolanda Haynes was loving, feisty and full of laughter. On Thursday, she was stabbed to death outside a store on Kings Road — and her family is left asking why.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says Haynes was killed following a physical altercation with another woman outside the Leyu Food Store on King’s Road. She was stabbed with a sharp object, police said.

Her sister, Sheila Dixon Williams, got the news from her sister, Tonya, as she was leaving work.
“Yolanda was more than what she lost her life for,” Dixon Williams said. “She was loving, caring, she loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She loved people who didn’t even love her.”
Haynes’ niece, Miracle Vickers, had seen her just hours before she was killed.
“Then within the blink of an eye, got a phone call, she was gone,” Vickers said.
Dixon Williams described her sister as someone well-known and well-liked in the area where she died.
“Why her? Nobody had anything negative to say about her. They loved her over there. They looked out for her, and it’s a shock to everyone,” she said.
When asked what she would say to the person responsible, Dixon Williams had one word: “Why.”
