Gate Petroleum buys portion of former St. Augustine Adventure Landing site for planned carwash

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Just more than three months after Adventure Landing closed in St. Augustine, Jacksonville-based Gate Petroleum plans to redevelop a portion of the 7.1-acre property on State Road 16, according to the Jacksonville Daily Record.
Gate purchased the part of the former amusement park property July 24 for $2.1 million. The company confirmed it has plans to build a Gate Express Car Wash on the property. At the time, it’s unclear when construction will begin.
Adventure Landing closed April 12 after being sold for $3.6 million to a collection of Alabama and Georgia real estate firms.
St. Johns County is reviewing plans to demolish the park and redevelop the property. The St. Augustine location was the last surviving Adventure Landing in Northeast Florida.
