Xbox Live down? Thousands report sign-in, game launch issues

Thousands of Xbox users woke up Monday to frustrating news — Xbox Live was down, leaving players unable to sign in, access game libraries or launch games.

According to Down Detector, reports of the outage peaked at 3,296 around midnight before tapering to roughly 700 reports by 9 a.m. Monday. Of those who flagged problems, 67% reported issues with game launch as the most common complaint.

What Xbox support is saying

Xbox Support acknowledged the issue on its official X account, posting updates as engineers worked to resolve the problem.

“We are aware that some users are encountering errors when attempting to sign in, see your game library, or launch games. Our engineers are actively working to mitigate the issue,” the account posted approximately three hours ago.

In a follow-up post about an hour ago, Xbox Support addressed the prolonged timeline of the disruption.

“Just checking in on the game library, sign-in, and game launch issue. We know this has been going on a while and appreciate your patience while our teams keep working on it. Watch here or at http://support.xbox.com for updates," the account posted.
