ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – With the first day of school just around the corner, St. Johns County is making progress on several major road projects — and drivers need to know what to expect on their commute.
The county is currently managing 44 active road projects with a combined budget of $183.1 million for the year.

CR 210 widening
Good news for families heading back to school. All westbound lanes on County Road 210 are expected to reopen by the end of the day Friday, July 31 — just ahead of the St. Johns County school year, which begins Aug. 10.
A county spokesperson confirmed progress has been made on the westbound side of the project and that all lanes should be open by end of the week (Friday)
State Road 16 widening near IGP
According to county officials, work on the State Road 16 widening project near International Golf Parkway (IGP) and St. Johns Parkway is 60% complete.
Drainage work near IGP is expected to wrap up by Aug. 9.
Meanwhile, a contractor is working on temporary signalization for an eastbound traffic shift from AutoZone through the existing traffic corridor.
That shift is expected to take place after Labor Day.
First Coast Expressway closures
Drivers traveling along County Road 16A should plan ahead for upcoming weekend closures.
As part of First Coast Expressway construction, CR 16A between Timberwolf Trail and River Reach Parkway will be closed during the following windows:
- 8 p.m. Friday, July 31 through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3
- 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7 through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10
Officials say the closures are necessary to allow for pipe installation across the roadway. During the closures, traffic will detour via State Road 16 and State Road 13.
