A man is dead after being pulled from a swimming pool at a Jacksonville apartment complex Sunday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police say just after 6 p.m. on Aug. 16, a resident of Park Avenue Apartments on Baymeadows Circle East, was walking near the community pool when he noticed a dark object resting at the bottom of the water. Upon closer inspection, the resident realized it was a person.

The resident jumped in and pulled the victim from the pool while screaming for help. A neighbor heard the calls and rushed over. Together, the two Good Samaritans attempted CPR as they waited for emergency responders to arrive.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department crews arrived on scene and transported the victim to the hospital. The victim, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
JSO detectives responded to the scene and are investigating the incident. Police say no foul play is suspected.
