Deputies respond to plane crash near Micanopy; both occupants safe

MICANOPY, Fla. – Deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a single-engine plane crash west of Interstate 75 near Micanopy, Florida.

Fire rescue personnel from both Alachua and Marion counties were also on scene.

Authorities say they located the crash site and confirmed that both people on board are safe and uninjured. Deputies were working to guide the two occupants out of a marsh area and onto dry land, where they would be evaluated by emergency medical services.
