NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – A Nassau County man was arrested after investigators linked him to a fraud scheme that they said left victims across multiple states out of thousands of dollars.
David Ford faces charges of grand theft, organized fraud and writing false checks. The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said he used fraudulent checks to purchase high-value goods from unsuspecting sellers — then vanished.

The case began to unravel in December 2025, when a Nassau County victim reported being swindled after selling four high-end RC cars through Facebook Marketplace for $2,500. The check Ford provided bounced, and the phone number he gave the seller was disconnected shortly after, detectives said.
Investigators traced details from the fraudulent check to a similar case in Knoxville, Tennessee, where they said Ford operated under the alias Thor Chevy Haraldsson.
The Tennessee connection opened the door to a much larger picture. Detectives determined Ford was wanted in multiple jurisdictions, including Tennessee, Colorado and Washington, and that his method was consistent across each case — fraudulent checks, false names and a quick disappearance.
Investigators also found multiple Facebook posts on community pages where users had already begun warning others about Ford and his alleged activities.
Ford was booked into the Nassau County Jail & Detention Center on Aug. 14 and is being held on a bond exceeding $90,000.
