Police ID man shot, killed in Northwest Jacksonville

JSO searching for suspect in deadly shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police have released the name of a man found shot to death Thursday night at a Northwest Jacksonville apartment complex.

Isadore Powell, 39, was found dead outside the Kings Ridge apartment complex, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

An off-duty police officer was working at the complex on Kings Park Drive, off West 13th Street, when he heard multiple gunshots around 7:30 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said.

News4Jax spoke to Powell's brother, Alfred Harris, who said Powell received a phone call while he was at his home at the King Ridge Apartments.  Harris said when his brother came out, the person who called him, shot him and then drove away.

Harris recently lost his son and said he’s devastated that he’s now lost his brother.

“For this to happen, it’s just pouring salt on the wounds so I just wish somebody come forward. Hell, I’ll pay them if I have to. Just say something. It’s a lot,” said Harris.

Police had crime scene tape blocking off the apartments as detectives canvassed the area and talked to witnesses.

The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
