JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One man was killed and two others were injured in a shooting Tuesday night near a Northwest Jacksonville gas station, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

The triple shooting happened about 8 p.m. in a wooded area next to the Raceway gas station on Golfair Boulevard at Interstate 95.

Sheriff's Office Homicide Sgt. David Smith said three men in their early 20s were hanging out when someone approached them, began shooting, and then ran off. 

One man died at the scene, Smith said, and the two others were taken to a hospital -- one with life-threatening injuries and the other with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Smith said it was unclear whether the shooting was random or targeted. 

Detectives are working to find surveillance video.
