2 men shot inside vehicle on Jacksonville's Eastside

Police: 1 man dead, second victim remains in critical condition

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One man is dead and another man is in critical condition after a shooting Saturday evening on Jacksonville's Eastside.

The shooting occurred on A. Philip Randolph Boulevard and Pippin Street. around 6:30 p.m.

News4Jax has learned the two men were inside a white Chevy Impala when the gunfire erupted. One of the victims has died, and the other was still in surgery Saturday night.

It is the same area where six people were shot at a laundromat during a Jacksonville Jaguars game in October.

News4Jax spoke with people who live in the area. One man said the police tape is all too familiar.

"We need to stop it. I have two kids," the man said. "I recently stayed right here on this street, but I moved two blocks over across the overpass because you hear all the gunshots and stuff like that."

2018 was a deadly year for Jacksonville, with more than 100 murders and 70 percent unsolved.

News4Jax counted more than 20 evidence markers along A. Phillip Randolph on Saturday night, indicative of shell casings on the ground.

"We just need to stop the violence, everybody, and come together as a community," the man said.

Police are searching for a suspect and do not have a description at this time. Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500.
