Julington Creek Diamond Kings go far during Cal Ripken World Series

The team almost won it all! They were one of the final two teams, but lost by one point.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – The 10U baseball team from Julington Creek is heading home after competing in the Cal Ripken World Series in Vincennes, Indiana.

The local little league team almost took it all the way. The team was one score away from being one of the final two teams that went to the championship.

They may not have won the title, but they didn’t walk away empty-handed. Along with an experience they will remember forever, two players -- Will Campbell and Mark Thompson -- earned spots on the All World Series Team!

This team has so much to be proud of! The Julington Creek team made it this far after only playing together as a team for a year and a half.

News4JAX shared the team’s GoFundPage ahead of the trip. It raised more than $4,000.

We are so proud of the entire team! Great job, boys!

This Julington Creek team of 10 year olds won the Southeast Regional Championship .This is the first time any team in this league has made it this far.
