JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A longtime Pawsitive Reader at Jacksonville Humane Society is being recognized for a major milestone: 100 hours reading to shelter pets.
Nehemiah T. joined the JHS Pawsitive Reading program in 2024 and has been determined to reach 100 hours ever since.

Nehemiah especially loves to read to the dogs in JHS’s suites and hopes that reading helps them feel calmer and find homes faster.
One of his favorite dogs to read to was Hopper, who he read to during every visit until he was adopted after nearly 400 days in the shelter.
Pawsitive Readers have the opportunity to earn colored paw print stickers for their name badges as they reach reading hour milestones, with a sparkly gold paw print sticker being the coveted grand prize.
Nehemiah also earned a certificate verifying his 100 hours of reading, signed in gold ink.
