From pound to podium: How Disc-Connected K9s saves dogs through Frisbee

Disc-Connected K9s is a Frisbee dog entertainment team built entirely around rescued dogs, turning once-homeless pups into world‑class performers and beloved family pets. Founded in 1992, the organization began its rescue work with Allie, a Border Collie/Lab mix, and has since saved hundreds of dogs from shelters, homelessness, or abandonment. It covers their veterinary care, provides basic obedience training, and teaches them disc skills. Many of these dogs go from life in the pound to the big stage, performing choreographed Frisbee routines at fairs and festivals around the world and then being adopted into permanent homes through the group’s carefully managed adoption program. Led by trainer and founder Lawrence Frederick and featuring handlers like multi–time world finalist Jodi Frederick, the team showcases what rescued dogs can achieve with patience, training, and love—proving that second chances can lead to championship‑level success.
