One Wing Charities Inc. was formed in memory of 2 time MLB All Star pitcher and humanitarian, Hank Aguirre. After retiring from his almost two decade long career in major league baseball, Aguirre invested in the city of Detroit and its people. Striving to combat the lack of transportation and high unemployment rate, he founded an automotive parts manufacturer and supplier where the majority of his eventual 900+ employees lived. Long before “community service” became a buzzword, Hank was quietly helping families in need — paying utility bills, buying groceries, covering medical expenses, and mentoring young people — all without seeking recognition. Whether it was a struggling single mother, a child who needed baseball gear, or a neighbor facing hard times, Hank showed up. He believed that if you had the ability to help, you had the responsibility to help.

Today, One Wing Charities continues Hank’s mission by providing direct, immediate assistance to individuals and families facing financial hardship due to medical crises, loss of income, or unexpected emergencies, with a focus on underserved communities in Northeast Florida. We keep overhead low and impact high — because that’s exactly how Hank would have wanted it.
