“P.L.A.A.Y.”ing a visit to Andrew Jackson High School

The Partnership for Child Health’s PLAAY program—short for Preventing Long-Term Anger and Aggression in Youth—helps Northeast Florida young people build practical skills for managing emotions, navigating conflict, and making positive choices. Designed primarily for Black and Brown youth ages 10 to 17, the culturally responsive mentoring and prevention program uses Dr. Howard Stevenson’s Racial Stress and Trauma Framework along with structured recreational and social activities, giving participants opportunities to practice emotional regulation and conflict-resolution skills in real time. It reflects the Partnership for Child Health’s broader mission of connecting children and families with coordinated health, educational, justice, and community supports so they are not left to navigate complex systems alone.
