Longtime private school powers face off in our Game of the Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It’s Football Friday, and the Game of the Week features a pair of legendary programs: Trinity Christian is hosting Bolles.

The band and cheerleaders for Trinity Christian are going to be bringing the energy for Friday night’s game, a matchup that showcases talented programs known for racking up championships.

The Bolles School has 11 state titles -- the most for any school in Florida.

The Conquerors are looking to clinch their third straight championship this year and are off to a hot 3-0 start.

Trinity Christian OL/DL Dorean Cleveland, a senior, said there’s a lot of focus on what this game means to the team.

The private school powers played five times from 1997-2000 (Bolles went 4-1 in those) and not again until 2017. Trinity won four straight when the series resumed but the last two meetings have been all Bolles, with a 35-0 win in 2021 and a 36-12 victory in 2020.

Senior Trinity Christian running back Treyaun Webb said getting an old coach back has made a big difference for the Conquerors.

“Kind of realized during summer workouts that we are going to be a hard-working team. We have our old offensive coordinator back. He was here a couple of years ago. He instilled in us that work ethic and drive,” Webb said. “Every practice is a grind for us. We are working to get better every day.”

Kickoff between the Bulldogs and Conquerors is at 7:30 p.m.
