Girls soccer playoffs ‘24: St. Johns Country Day back in state semifinals

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – St. Johns Country Day is headed back to the girls soccer state semifinals.

The Spartans were the lone area survivor in the regional finals on Wednesday, beating Christ’s Church 4-0 in the 1-2A clash. The Spartans will face Shorecrest Prep (9-3-3) in the state semifinals on Feb. 20 at Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale. St. Johns (15-2-5) is the most decorated girls program in state history. Coach Mike Pickett has led the Spartans to 14 state championships, 11 of those consecutively. Lakeland Christian beat the Spartans in last year’s title game to halt the prolific run.

Sydney Schmidt scored twice, including just three minutes in to put St. Johns on track for Auburndale.

In Region 1-2A, Episcopal’s season ended with a 2-1 loss to top-seeded P.K. Yonge. And Stanton dropped a 4-2 match to top-seeded South Walton in 1-4A.
