JSC: The Jaguars’ draft picks on Day 2 left everyone scrambling. Here is my thing. If you told me they took Emmanuel Pregnon at 56 I would have loved the pick. Soooo … how can I sit here and say I hate the class or the process when in Round 3 they got a guy that I had in a mock for them going at 56? Would Nate Boerkircher have been as much of a shock if it went in the third round? I don’t think so. Overall, they address needs on the roster. Was it with the players I would have picked? No. But it is tough to argue with logic behind the picks. Each one of their first four picks can be described in one word: physical. Like the picks, the message is clear: the Jags want to build a physical team.
Jamal’s Day 2 grade: C+
JB: Didn’t like the pick at 56 at all. Would have grabbed Ohio State TE Max Klare and Georgia TE Oscar Delp over Boerkircher without hesitation. Or even linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. of Texas, who went four picks later. Had Boerkircher gone later in Round 3, I wouldn’t have disliked it as much. It’s obvious that the Jaguars want to get stronger on the offensive line. This was a pick for that. Just not a fan of it at No. 56. Pregnon was, hands down, their top pick of the second day. He will start at some point this year. I think he will be in a position to push incumbent right guard Patrick Mekari. Regis is a rotation piece and Huskey will have a shot to do something on special teams.
Justin’s Day 2 grade: C.
