JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It was a great start in Jacksonville for area athletes at the high school state track and field championships at UNF’s Hodges Stadium on Wednesday.
Seven individual athletes brought home titles in the Class 1A meet, three of those by Providence boys runners to kick off four days of championship track. Sean Cunningham took the top of the podium in the 3200, and Charles Loftin had a crown in the 800 and a third in the 1600. That duo also powered the 3200 relay team to a nine-second win in that event. Bishop Snyder’s Daniel Hoff had an excellent day for the Cardinals in winning the 400, going third in the 100 and fourth in the 200. The Trinity Christian duo of Ja’Khari Jackson and Nate Branch finished 1-2 in the high jump.
For the girls, Providence’s Coral Sklenicka won the pole vault, and Snyder’s Kalia Bing was atop the podium in the high jump.
